Thursday is Valentine's Day so this week Art Of The Day is all about hearts. All of the art this week is from the EBSQ's Seasonal Gallery where you can find even more Valentine themed art. Any of the art pieces in the gallery can be sent as e-cards for the perfect Valentine's greeting and many of them are available for sale if you want a more tangible way to tell someone that they are special.

Media:  ink & colored pencil
Dimensions:  22 3/4 x 14
Date of Work:  2008

Two fooles in love, oblivious to the world around them, with eyes only for each other and joy. This is drawn on archival rag board and sprayed with acryllic matte finish to seal and protect. My technique is very time consuming. I have about 300 hours invested in this particular piece. First, I lightly sketch the concept. Second, I ink all the line work and black areas. Then the color is painstakingly layered color upon color till it is solid. After coloring is complete, I re-ink for clean definition. I'm not complaining. I love the effect.
