This work was created for the artist's own online show entitled "The Working Man," a show which celebrates the life of the average family.
The factory is the symbol of the industrial world, the hub of the community. The wages that it provides funnel back into the grocery stores and gas stations, supporting life, education, the local churches, and the government.
The feeling of the painting is ominous, that something dark is looming. The repitition in the work highlights the nature of high speed manufacturing. The windows, roofline, cars, smoke and stacks all repeat, indicating the trivialization and insignificance the working man often feels in the grand scheme of things.
The canvas was primed with White Gesso, and then the painting was created in layers giving it deep texture and feeling. The sides are painted so the work will not require framing and is ready to hang.
