Art of the Day: 09/04/2005
This Week's Theme:   New Orleans

This week EBSQ's Art Of The Day looks at the city below sea level as it deals with the worst disaster to ever hit the area. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida who have been affected by Katrina.

Media:  Acrylics on Stretched Canvas
Dimensions:  28" Wide x 22" High
Date of Work:  November 2004

This impressionist painting of the Garden District in New Orleans is a study in light. The old oaks which line St. Charles Avenue filter the light, creating a soft bower of greens. This is an unframed canvas, mounted on stretcher bars, ready for framing. If you choose to hang it unframed, the edges of the canvas are also painted. This is a one-of-a-kind original, and will come with my certificate of authenticity. ARTIST'S STATEMENT: I rode this line when I was in New Orleans, and it was like being out in the country, right in the middle of the city. Thanks to a native of New Orleans, I think I have most of the details.
