Art of the Day: 08/14/2005
This Week's Theme:   Pets

This week, in conjunction with EBSQ's Pet Portrait Swap, Art Of The Day looks at the different amimals that populate our lives. This week, we focus on dogs.

Our dogs. Toys, treats, balls, brushing, bathing, feeding, walks. We do all of these things for them and all they really want is to be with us. Maybe that's why we do all we do for our dogs. They are companions, playmates, friends and without question, family.

Dimensions:  16 x 20
Date of Work:  Aug 2004

For years I have collected old photographs that have either become lost from their families or simply thrown out. Some faces leap out at me and I bring them home. On canvas, these faces are given another chance to tell their story, this time it's a girl and a dog. At first I thought the dog belonged to the dancing girl but now I have decided, from the look on the dog's face, that his true love is the one with the camera.
