Art of the Day: 01/04/2005
This Week's Theme:   Winter

Winter is here. It isn't just that the temperature has dropped, the entire landscape has changed. The light is different. The colours are different. The world in winter is as beautiful as it is unique.

For the next few weeks, Art Of The Day will be sharing some of the perspectives EBSQ artists have of this season.

Media:  Acrylic
Dimensions:  16 x 12"
Date of Work:  2004

Cold Snow is from a series of paintings from Capulin Volcano National Monument in northeastern New Mexico. This area was once alive with many volcanoes, erupting and spewing forth lava. Today they are dormant and very mild. Yet one can still get a feel for what it might have been like when they were hot and fierce. Many years of rain, wind, sun, snow and ice have taken their toll. This is near Roswell, UFO country, as the bird flies. So keep an eye out if you go there. You never know who your talking to or how he got there. The materials I use are of the highest standards, artist's quality. I use Golden Acrylic paints and mediums as well as Winsor & Newton. This painting is on gallery wrap canvas and is wired and ready to hang. No frame is needed! It will last for many years. When you buy a painting from me, you buy the highest possible quality. A certificate of authenticity is included. I also sign and date all my work. Due to color monitor settings, the colors of the painting and those on your monitor may not match exactly. The painting always looks better in person. I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I enjoyed painting it. James
