This November brings us many challenges. If you live in the US, you may be anxiously awaiting our national and local elections, or possibly waiting for the muck stirred up by this election season to end. And if you live somewhere other than the US, no doubt you've been shaking your heads sadly at us poor "Yanks." I can only imagine how this must look from the outside looking in. Certainly, politics and art have mixed in the past. You'll find our political art gallery in the spotlight this month, as is a look at art and politics by regular zine contributor, Alyson B. Stanfield. Whatever your take on the current political situation in the US is, I do hope, that if you're an American and eligible, you'll vote. And then, together, we will all move on to what comes next. Hopefully, art will be on that list of priorities somewhere.

In that vein, we're highlighting some art-related "challenges." The Botanical Artists of EBSQ have banded together to start a Flower of the Month Challenge that can be viewed in addition to our regularly scheduled monthly exhibits. More information on this challenge can be found both in this issue as well as on the Botanical Art Board on our community message boards. And if you're a Live Journal participant, you may well already be aware of Art by the Inch. We've included an invitation from founder Tricia Leach, and we hope to see many of you participate. I know that as a new mother, I am hoping challenges like these will help bring a bit more daily art into my life. Perhaps they will for you as well.
