You should feel as though you walked into something to which you're not invited. The annoyed look, the sharp lines of the porch, the muted colors and the body language of BOTH figures says "stay away". The viewer isn't clear whether the annoyance is about you or between the two figures, but I wanted to capture the feeling of intrusion. I also applied the paints in thin layers to complete my capture of the essense of Hopper's style. I wanted to create a certain distance between the subject and viewer
