Oyster Shell Pendant 3

- by Robin Cruz McGee

This week's theme: Sea Shells

Anne Morrow Lindbergh took them as inspiration for her book of essays "Gift from the Sea". They are the hard, protective coverings made by creatures from a very different and mysterious world. Sea shells are the treasures found during a walk on the beach. We look for them. We delight in their different shapes and colours. Sea shells are a glimpse beneath the surface of the ocean. They are hints of life in a vast sea - hints that we can hold in our hand.

Art: Oyster Shell Pendant 3 by Artist Robin Cruz McGee
Small and highly detailed, this silver pendant is inspired by living in the Low Country. Oysters are a quintessential part of the life here and the oyster shell is an ubiquitous image that speaks of Charleston and the surrounding area. This pendant is rendered in the technique, Repousse. With punches and hammers i can capture rich detail and create a feast for the eyes. Each of these pendants is unique.
