This week's theme: Flower of the Month 2011, Part 2
In September, Art of the Day featured some of the favorite entries of our members and patrons from the EBSQ Flower of the Month shows in 2011. of the months January through July. It wouldn't be right to neglect the rest of the Flower of the Month shows just because they number less than seven. So this week, we proudly present art from August through November - the last Flower of the month show of 2011, plus some bright red hearts for Saint Valentine's Day.
This is a somewhat different shaped orchid from the ones we are used to. This was spotted on a visit to the orchid room at Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh. It was worked on in Photoshop to create the final image with somewhat painterly touches. I love orchids and was especially fond of the colors and the angle of this flower.
