To me a brick wall symbolizes the diagnosis of Cancer. It is such a shock to the whole fabric of life, so much like running into a brick wall. I have chosen to show that wall in black and white....which invokes a harsh feeling. Next to it, though are Pink Dogwood flowers which are a symbol of hope for me. They stand out in contrast to the brick wall and offer the feelings of hope that are needed during a difficult time. This reminds me of my Mom's diagnosis of Cancer (the shock was like a brick wall you could not get around) which she lost her battle with, but there was always hope and that comforted me through the long battle.
