
'Zinnia Cafe - Table For One' was created specifically for EBSQ's July 2012 Pointillism Exhibit. The feeding monarch butterfly was 'painted' with pastel pencils using only three colors: yellow, magenta (red) and cyan (blue) and black. The spaces left on the pastel paper create white and lighter values. It is the same 4-color separation process that many printers use to create colors.
I kept the image area small, 6" x 6," because I knew it would take awhile to complete. It did. I worked on it at night while I watched 'Supernatural' DVD's. Hey, I least I wasn't a total couch potato. ;)
