"Lady in Fun Outfit"
A miniature acrylic painting done on canvas paper in a pointillistic style of a lady in festive garb; 2 1/2" 3 1/2"; July 29, 2012.
This piece was created for the Ebsq Pointillism Show, one of the shows it has every month. Pointillism is a style of art created by dots of one or more colors to create a form and an image. My apporach for creating this one was I worked from a doll I own who is wearing a pleated skirt. This isn't identical at all to that doll as I couldn't do dots small enough with the brush and paint that I had so I innovated to make an entirely different looking person in the painting.
The purpose of my art in this style is to bring cheer to the person who gets to hold it in their hand. During these times of economic stress and hardship it is my wish for people to have affordable art that brings a smile or feelings of warmth and happiness to those who get to see it. To hold this piece in your hand is to feel the warmth of old world charm.
