The inspiration for this painting was an amaryllis plant that my friend Kathy gave me for Christmas 2007. Actually she gave me the bulbs for Christmas. I planted and watered the bulbs and left the pots in my window in the studio. In about two weeks this plant had sprouted and began to grow.
The painting is bright reds and oranges and is joyous. It is painted in the fashion of Georgia O'Keefe, one of my favorite artists.
