
'Variations' is my entry for the 'Enigmatic' Exhibit. I wanted to create a piece that would comprise lots of different shape, texture and colour, hence the use of diverse glass beads accompanied by striking tiger's eye dagger beads. The wire is sterling silver, the metal beads are a mix of sterling and Tibetan silver. The necklace is hung with multiple strands of varigated hand dyed silk ribbon and it fastens with a sterling silver toggle and bar fastener.
I really enjoyed making this fluid, organic piece and I love the way the colours change in the light - in sunlight, for example, the glass glows. In shadow it takes on a subtler mood, the colours muted and secretive...
