In 2010, I was contacted regarding a special private commission to create a 10 foot tall replica of one of our nation's most beloved and treasured monuments, the ever-iconic 'Statue of Liberty' (and in paper mache no less).  The timing was interesting in that I was just finishing up my year-long treatment for breast cancer, and feeling a bit more like my old self and transitioning back into regular life as I knew it.  As such, I couldn't help but appreciate the metaphor that taking on a task of such "monumental" proportions would personally represent to me and my life the the time -- nor was the serendipitous symbolism in relation to my own recent "liberty" from Cancer lost on me either.  After much thought and consideration with all this in mind, I gladly accepted the commission, and the challenge.  Ultimately it was a huge-yet-stimulating project for me, that took many month's of patient, painstaking and diligent work (documented in my blog:  http://art-of-patience.blogspot.com/) -- but in the end she was completed, crated, and trucked to her new home and owner, some 2,000 miles away.....
