Art: Gold Aluminum by Artist Shirley Jean
This piece uses a technique I call sawdust and glue, The sawdust is created when the styrofoam is cut with a hand saw. Wondering what to do with this I mixed it with glue and applied it to the piece. This creates a lot of texture. I found that this works like mortar to hold the piece together, which leads to new ideas. Many coats of paint are used to cover the foam.I keep working with the paint until I achieve the desired look. I wanted a metallic feel to this piece.
