I am going to venture out onto a limb and say that Kurt Cobain from Nirvana is a Dead Poet. I think musicians are poets whose poetry is set to music. One of my favorite albums has always been Nirvana "In Utero." So my piece, "Comfort in Being Sad," comes from the song "Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle." Nirvana was/is a HUGE influence in my life, so I blended my love of the lyrics with a few personal items. So it's kind of an emotional dystopia that I somehow find inviting. "I miss the comfort in being sad..." is a lyric in the song that I have always found intriguing. It implies that sadness or depression is somehow preferable to happiness, that a melancholy landscape can be beautiful and feel like home.
