Driving Passion

Most of us are driven by one passion or another. Many of us are dedicated and committed to that same passion. But making a study of Tamara de Lempicka, one discovers that surprisingly she was not. She had an astronomical talent, and a devoted clientele, she was acutely attuned to both technical skill as well as style.  She was not one to let herself be driven to and fro by her passions. Instead she took the driver seat and furnished the road map and maneuvered into the future.  This is my take on her self portrait of "Self Portrait in a Green Bulgatti" and of course right off it is not green because it is my painting, and if I owned a Bulgatti it most certainly would not be green.  You see Tamara has taught me to be driven is the forfeiting of one own power, but to get behind the wheel with the proper road map passion is steered into destiny.  Powerful lesson. If I could truly learn and apply that alone, my life could be in my hands instead of on my shoulders.
