Art: Desert View by Artist Aria Nadii

The inspiration for the desert landscapes is my father's childhood exile from his beloved home reflecting the constant (often forced) migrations of our ancestors. This piece is particularly evocative of the timeless experience one feels in the deserts and mountains of the Middle East.

Traditionally, our people made art very small or worked in textiles. Compact or rolled objects are easier to travel with. In the desert or on the road, resources are scarce and all materials valuable. The tiniest of fragments considered to be a treasure, scraps and discards given new life as evocative and decorative works of art.
