This small green man has a sardonic smile for us--I'd love to know what he's thinking. Perhaps contemplating his own legend, and our curiosity about it! My friend Kevin has the quintessential Irish face and was kind enough to pose for a number of these pieces--he makes a great foliate face. This one is also done with the traditional technique of pulling the image from a toned ground, but I kept highlighting to a miniumum, only lighting up his eyes.
